Stars and Dust came about from my fandom, sad to say. I'm one of those weird men who likes romance, so it was natural for me to want to create something in that genre that didn't fall into the tropes that I think are damaging. In my culture this is frowned upon for a man to be interested in romance to say it mildly. I was lucky enough to stumble into anime years ago, and one of the first series I really enjoyed was KOR. I wanted to recreate the feeling I had for that series with something new, so if you're following my comic, expect a love triangle! Maybe several as I also adored Lovely Complex. Actually, this might be an appropriate time for a teaser.
Regina, who will make her first appearance next week is a psychologist and social scientist. Seen below in a photo with Max from her days as a Ph.D. candidate. She is... odd.
I'm also a francophile. So, Giselle being french was a lucky bonus. Through her and her friends I get to share the features of french culture that I like, and say a few things that I think aren't said enough inside my own. I'm really fortunate to have her as a character, and be able to develop her into a whole person. It's been a real learning experience.
I have to say, I'm really enjoying the experience of making a comic as I find that as I grow more comfortable with my readership, the more little pieces of me come out. Unfortunately this includes my odd and sometimes wicked sense of humor. Still, it's been very fun.
