Tapastic's growth stalled in September. Total visits declined -.74% over August's 7,050,000 to 7,000,000. Global rank increased to #5,037 from #5,198. In the last six months, Tapastic has grown 45.83%. The average visit declined 31 seconds to 5 minutes and 50 seconds.
LINEWebtoons saw a significant decrease in traffic. Total visits fell -11.58% to 20,400,000 from August's 23,100,000. Global rank decreased from #1,698 to #1,865. In the last six months, LINE has grown 23.63%. The average visit increased by 1 minute and 30 seconds to 10 minutes and 44 seconds.
The GamerCat remains the 2nd highest referrer to Tapastic but saw the second straight month of falling referrals.
Tapastic started display advertising on YouTube.
Facebook lost significant ground in Tapastic's social media traffic referrals, giving it over to Reddit, but still remains king at 60% of all referrals. Twitter remained relatively unchanged. YouTube and DeviantArt finished 4th and 5th.
Conclusions:
Webcomics saw a big hit in September.
The most likely cause for the loss of traffic is summer ending for many webcomic readers and students having to return to school.
Tapastic remained resilient to the decline, losing less than 1% of traffic whereas LINE lost over 11%. In comparison, LINE lost proportionally 1560% more visitors than Tapastic did.
The reason for Tapastic's resilience is likely due to ever increasing growth efforts by staff to elevate Tapastic's visibility such as sponsoring #comicbookhour and being on the cover of Make Mine Indie.
