Of course it is :3 Although it's good practice to at least keep up with the most current webcomics - just like if you were a scientist and had to keep up with new developments in the science world, or any other example you'd prefer - it should be noted that you don't have to be reading webcomics all the time.
Although, do keep in mind that even though you think you aren't "learning" anything, often times you'll end up looking back on a webcomic you read and being like "hey, I like what they did with this! maybe I could try something like that". So a lot of the time, you'll still be absorbing tricks and techniques, just not realizing it, as it's not a "sit in the classroom and listen to the lecture" sort of learning, but a learning from being exposed to it.
So what I recommend is to read what you like. Don't force yourself to read comics you don't like because you'll just wear yourself out. Read the genres and comics from artists you like, and whether you learn anything or not, at least you'll still be keeping up with current techniques and such, and you can at least have discussions about those comics and know what works, what doesn't work, etc. Little reading is better than no reading at all (:
