みなさん、こんにちは! Helly everyone!
はじめまして(^ー^) Nice to meet you
My name is Matt and I am writing a Story Manga for the Tezuka Award next year held in Japan by SHUEISHA, Inc. I'm a shonen writer, mainly. Sometimes I do write to other audiences, however only if that's where the story is taking me. To the story, I'm merely a witness, writing down in detail as it progresses on its own inside my head. Only little guidance is needed. If a potential partner should want to influence its flow I'll be bringing them into my world with enthusiasm, letting them interact with it as their heart desires. As long as the flow stays interesting. I am also willing to cut out scenes if the manuscript gets too long, as this could be a necessary.
My main skill is writing, and often times I like to compose a piece of music on my piano to inspire the story. But I too have a past of drawing. I used to draw a gag comic for a friend, though only some concept art along with writing the scripts. Actually, I plan on going all out with this gag project until I find an artist, that way I will have something to refer back to if the artist should want to see my previous work, collaborating with others. With that said, I'm not able to draw a serious Story Manga on my own, thus I'm here seeking assistance.
Art by me: Dwagginz — Happy Birthday Phillipzu!
Writing by me: The Human Mind — Prologue: When Time Breaks Down
I seek a team who share the same goal of submitting for the Tezuka Award:
- Head artist – the artist who draws/inks the characters on the manuscript
- Background artist – the artist who draws/inks the backgrounds on the manuscript
These can be one and the same artist, if preferable, but the artist can have as many assistants as they see need. I'll help with what I can, e.g. toning, lettering in Japanese, drawing hand poses, etc. And we'll work out the name (storyboard) as a team.

The majority of you fellow creators may be working on your own projects, drawing and writing your fantastic comics, and I have full respect for that! I understand that it takes a huge amount of effort to do what you do, and to keep doing it. I'm only asking for those few artists available, who may be interested in the Tezuka Award as myself.
I am aware that I'm up against extremely gifted and talented manga creators, who grew up with manga, and that Japanese people are known for being extremely good at what they do. I am also aware that, going against the odds, should I get a publication at the Shonen Jump magazine, manga creators live and work under extreme conditions and don't get enough sleep – some get four hours of sleep if lucky. But I am doing this. Should you want to do it or not.
I am looking for a manga artist or two who are curious as to where their abilities could take them, submitting to a contest. Personally, I am really interested in being compared to other Japanese manga creators and to see where I stand in the line towards a publication. Just by knowing my position in the contest and reading my opponents' manga, I would have a lot to reflect on and more fuel for the flame towards becoming a better manga creator myself. If this is you, have a look at the Shonen Jump Application Guidelines and hit me up below.
