Why should people read your comic?
Hmm, I don't create with that in mind. My husband and I make our comic, Oops, because we're passionate about comics, we want to encourage kids to read through art and story, and there's nothing else we'd rather be doing. However, we still want people to read our comic and enjoy the passion and work we put into it.
Is it amazing art?
Maybe, we've had lots of readers comment on the art, as well as comic book stores agree to carry our book just by looks alone. Jeramy and I push ourselves artistically on each page, and challenge ourselves to get better at it. Also, each one of our issue covers were contributed by our industry friends and ties back into the friendship theme of our comic.
Compelling characters?
I do think our characters are unique. Our main character, Oops, is a mute. He gave up a piece of himself in order to save his only friend, a now giant green talking rat, Plague. We even try give the supporting characters depth. The Knights that patrol the city are very power corrupt, while the Chief of Knights is conflicted with a need to obey the evil dark King while still protecting/servicing the citizens of the city.
Awesome plot?
Hmm, I'm going to take a guess and say no. I think on surface level, a streetrat orphan boy in a medieval city trying to find his family and where he belong might seem cliche and overdone (I've heard that comment before). However, we're reinventing the wheel a bit by adding twists in the story and introducing other characters that are common in that type of plot. Though most of those are in later issues. For example, in issue 4, we introduce our strong female character and a tribe of talking mystical gryphons.
Tell me what you think is the best part of your comic!
The bits of ourself that we incorporate into the comic. The watchlid in the comic, that is Oops only clue to his family, is based on Jeramy's watchlid that he got from his grandfather before he passed. Also, on the last page of issue 2, when Plague and Oops decided to band together to find his family, Plague tells Oops, "You and me against the world!" and that something Jeramy and I used to say to each other a lot.
