@pastchaser
I think that's what a lot of writers and artists will do. It's such a good outlet, and gives us better understanding of what we are going through. Also, can you really have "too much" anime and fantasy movies? LOL
@dairyfiend I've known a lot of people who get inspiration from dreams, and I always have envied those people. It must be cool to have weird dreams that give you ideas instead of just weird dreams you wake up from going "What the hell's going on in my subconscious??" XD
@Wognif How cool! I really like how you're able to take real life situations and turn them into something fantastical. Also, that person you went to high school with seems like perfect character material...I mean, it's not every day you meet someone who acts like a parakeet LOL!
@jaceebo Hey, you can never go wrong with doodling. (Also the character descriptions made me laugh!)
@Creaux See, that's so cool! I love when you come across a comic where you have to think "What a great idea? Why didn't I think of that?" This is pretty much why I made this post: To see where people get ideas like that from.
@bluefairy
That's very true: Anything, no matter how small or seemingly insignificant can be the source of inspiration to the right person. You can really tell that someone has a true creative spirit if they are able to take the worst moments of their life (or mundane tasks, such as washing the dishes haha) and turn them into a story or a piece of art. And I completely agree: I've often had brilliant ideas while I'm at work, but by the time I get home I've forgotten them all...It's the worst haha!
@Zanreo Awesome! Yeah, it's always fun when you can find inspiration through reading something someone else wrote, or seeing artwork someone else has posted. Also, Hetalia came out at the end of my anime phase so I never got a chance to watch it. I heard it was good, though!
@jessiepolfliet That's what makes everyone's comic so unique: The fact that even a base idea, like superheroes, that has been used so many times before can still be different because of creators like yourself who can take their own experience and imagination and use it to make the world of the comic a real and completely original place.
@getsuart I can really see how your initial inspirations tie into your comic (even if you hadn't mentioned it, the moment she put her mother's armor on my mind immediately went to Mulan and Jeanne d'Arc!). Also, I've always been a fan of creators who can take aspects of mythology and form their own unique world and story. And it's true: Not everyone is Toph...the only thing we can hope for is to someday be as badass as she is LOL
