I don't -mind- it but when it's over and over again, it's like . . . let it go lol
I know there's this guy that'll stop by my website every once in a blue moon to offer some helpful critiques, and of course I appreciate the time he/she takes to do so every time he/she does. BUT quite a lot of the time Tom Preston's works come up and they use that as a comparison.
Yeah , I'm not Tom Preston. I don't -like- Tom Preston to begin with. His comics are okay but they're not something I'd want to be compared to because we're not in the same ballpark when it comes to our styles, humor, etc. I'd be fine with being compared to like, Calvin and Hobbes or Stupid Fox or Fail by Error or Awkward Zombie, etc. because all those comics are sorta in the same style either in art or in writing in comparison to my own. So it was clear pretty quickly that this said critique-er's favorite comic creator was Tom Preston and that's probably what made him want to give me suggestions based on that to make my stuff -more- like his stuff.
Nah thanks. I'll pass.
So in that kinda situation, yes, it's a pain in the ass. In others though, it depends. It's sort of a case-by-case basis for me.
