Copy paper: For sketching pages; the finished pages are all digital, but I prefer to sketch on paper first.
Sketchbook: For sketching ideas, larger pictures, and thumbnailing comic pages.
Faber-Castell 2B, 4B and 6B pencils
Epson Perfection 636U scanner: This scanner still works, but it's so old that my main computer doesn't support it! I have to hook it up to another computer running Linux, and I had to install a third-party program so it'd support the scanner, and then transfer the pictures to my main computer.
Wacom Bamboo tablet
Inkscape: Most of the digital work on my comics is done with this program. I import the sketches into Inkscape. The digital line art, panels, lettering, coloring and shading are all done with vectors.
Photoshop CS: After exporting the pages as .PNGs from Inkscape, I add the finishing touches in Photoshop.
One of my friends is telling me to get a new computer, but I'd also have to get a new scanner, tablet, and software. If anyone is using old hardware or old software, how do you decide to keep using it, or when to replace it?
