With the advent of digital comics, are serialized works still considered a necessity? In prose, people like Charles Dickens would serialize his work to get a revenue stream while his work was waiting for formal publication.
But with the rise of web comics, as well as self-publishing there isn't quite that same issue of having to wait two years before your work is seen in print.
I just wondered what peoples thoughts were on this.
I always preferred serialization, as it makes it easier for me to pace my work. I always written my work in the past where a main character is shared throughout the series, but with the whole series paced in self-contained episodes approaching various themes in life.
