Here we are, right back where we began, but this time, it's different. We're revisiting the story that has been my companion for so long, now carefully woven into the fabric of a novel - as it was initially intended. It's an unconventional approach, releasing it chapter by chapter, but it's an adventure I hope you'll join me on.
In my high school years, this narrative was a solitary venture, a story that took shape within the confines of my mind. As time went on, Winfreda Hill, a guiding light, joined me. Our combined energies nurtured and shaped the story over four beautiful years. I'm forever grateful to her, for without her insight and support, I doubt I could have come this far. Her passing left a void in my life, and a promise unfulfilled - to complete the story. Even after losing my work in a fire, I clung to this promise. It was a lifeline, a beacon in the darkness.
In the subsequent years, I found a new companion in Ashley Ray. Together, we aspired to translate our tale into an anime series. We assembled a small, talented team who breathed life into our characters, even going so far as to cast voice actors for the main roles. Ashley and I continued to polish the scripts, adding layers to the story, infusing it with humor and depth.
Sadly, the financial burden of producing an animated series was too heavy to bear. But every setback is an opportunity in disguise. With my wife, and my co-writer, Kelly, at my side, we decided to bring the story back to its roots. Kelly, ever the wordsmith, suggested a new title that resonated with our revised narrative: 'Absent Light'. It was the perfect fit.
Today, we're back at square one with 'Absent Light', but it feels like coming home. This story, as it stands now, is a testament to our struggles, and most importantly, our unyielding determination to keep a promise.
Enjoy the read.
