Hello again, sweet, sweet Tapastic community. I'm currently working on a gothic fantasy/horror comic book designed for print. The first issue is written and currently speeding through art production, and so it's time for me to hire a cover artist to join our team. Our intention is to begin submitting it to various creator-controlled publishers starting in May. Here's some info about the comic:
I, Necromancer
Writer: Me!
Art by: Lukasz Markotny
Summary: Here is a story of the darkest fantasy and gothic horror, inspired by a love for the works of H.P. Lovecraft and Robert E. Howard. Vanion Knightwood, a once beautiful golden elf, is over 1,500 years old. But the merciless passage of time and a dark pact with an alien entity have slowly twisted and eroded the ex-bard's soul. Now, he rules over an oppressed valley with an iron fist, and prepares to exact his genocidal revenge against humanity for atrocities committed many centuries past. I, Necromancer allows readers to glimpse into the machinations and memories of a madman. Would-be heroes move to stop Vanion's plans, but to succeed, they may find that they will have to become more like the dread sorcerer than they ever thought possible. I, Necromancer is a story about what it means to be oppressed, to fight for justice, to be a tyrant, to be a terrorist, to be a father. There are no easy answers, no neat and tidy resolution, in I, Necromancer. There is only the uncertainty and confusion of life and death.
Length: Intended to be a 13 issue series, collected in three volumes: Act I (issues 1-4), Act II (issues 5-8) and Act III (issues 9-13).
Pay: Yes. Absolutely. I love paying artists for great work. Currently, I'm looking to hire a cover artist for the cover for the first issue, only. Depending on how the comic book is picked up, the art team may need to be approved by the publisher. If they are approved and we enjoy our collaboration, I'd be looking to hire you on for all of the comic's covers. One step at a time, though. Let's connect before we settle on a contract.
Style: You can see six sample pages from the first issue below to get a taste of the art for the book. The cover art would obviously be in a different style (yours!). I'm open to various techniques as a possibility: the most important aspects to the cover art, for me, is that it nails the gothic fantasy/horror atmosphere, is able to express the necessary symbolism and characterizations, and is polished and marketable.

If you're interested, feel free to post up some relevant art samples here that I can peruse to get a feel for you and/or reach out to me with a private message so that we can connect. I'm hoping to find our cover artist and send out a contract by this weekend. Thanks. : )
