There seems to be some really interesting threads of conversation weaving through this topic. I would like to address 3 of them:
First, @andrej, I love the idea of bringing back smartphones with buttons. Having given it some thought, I think it would be kind of nice if someone were to develop a universal hardware input interface for smartphones. Having this, you might go to the store and buy a qwerty keyboard for your smartphone. You could simply snap it into place over the smartphone, much like a faceplate. Alternatively, one could modularize and have multiple faceplate boards with different buttons.
Want to play games? Snap in the game controller faceplate! Need to use a touchscreen? Snap that bad boy in and snap it out when you're done! Want to text at lightning speed? Good 'Ol fashioned qwerty keyboard faceplate! Bwahahaha! It's brilliant!
Lol. Well, I like you post. It's sincere and makes a lot of sense.
Besides that, there seems to be a discussion about logic and the education system, @Terraset, @apocryphagraphics @noxfox.
I find it interesting that even here the discussion over education can get so heated. I'm no expert myself, not by a long shot, but I would like to point out one of the properties of logic. I find that logic is very good at evaluating a set of statements, but only with respect to an initial set of axiomatic principles.
As far as I can tell, however, I don't believe logic is well suited at all to choosing one axiom over another. Once the fundamental "givens" are, well, "given", then it's cake. But it's choosing what to accept as fundamental or not that tends to become the sticking point.
But that's about as much as I am qualified to comment on the issue. As for myself and wanting to revolutionize something, I wouldn't really call it a "revolution" per se. Rather, I want to breathe new life into the old school Retro 2D platforming game genre, among other game genres of that form.
I feel like the gaming industry left a lot of untapped potential in the 2D game mines when 3D game environments came along. I have ideas for what can be done, especially if we incorporate recent advancements in Artificial Intelligence and processing power to the old Retro Game Formats. It's a long shot, but one that I am willing to take.
Sorry for the long post. Thank you for reading!
