Paradoxically I both have a genre and don't have a genre. It could fall under cyberpunk, but I use the sleep mode cycle instead of cyberspace. I wanted to take a traditional cyberpunk story, and set it within a college dorm setting instead of a sprawling city-scape.
The tricky part is here, my science fiction had always been more relationship-driven. In the story I focus mainly on the inner psychology of the main characters instead of technology, though in this case it has become one and the same thing due to an entity manipulating the desires and dreams of each individual: singing again, being young again, and dating again.
So it was a bit difficult.
I suspect for my next Numero Hex story, it will be easier as the Sf component is less overt.
